Marketing My Book

Book cover for All We Need

Two years ago, I released my book, All We Need: The Thanksgiving That Almost Wasn’t. I didn’t do much marketing that year. It was released mid-November, about a week before Thanksgiving. I just didn’t have time to market it in any sort of organized manner. I wrote a blog post announcing the release, but that was about it. I still sold a few copies.

Last year, I did more marketing, but not a lot. I wrote several blog posts and donated the book to a bunch of little free libraries in my area. I sold 50ish copies. That’s a good number. It’s definitely more than just friends and family buying it. I was happy with that.

This year, I’m struggling a little bit. I’m writing my blog posts again. And I’m going to be at the Connecticut Book Festival. It’s November 22, 2025 in West Hartford. Perfect timing for my little Thanksgiving book. I’ll be bringing a bunch of copies of my book and selling them and signing them. I hope it goes well, but I feel like I’m putting all my eggs in one festival basket.

I think I’m going to have to try to up my social media game. That’s how most of the indie authors I see out there are marketing their books. And it’s free. Every other kind of marketing I can think of costs money that I don’t have.

There is one thing that you can do to help me, though. If you’ve read All We Need and you’re on Goodreads or The Story Graph, you can rate and review it on those sites.
