My Christmas Wish

Don’t worry, this isn’t going to be about peace on earth or anything like that. Not that there’s anything wrong with wanting peace on earth. On some level, I do, but it’s a very vague, diffused feeling. It’s not a real wish. I always feel like it’s a cheat when people say they wish for world peace or to end hunger. If you’re going to cheat, just wish for everything to be great and be done with it. No more half measures. But I’m getting away from my point. To be a real wish, there has to be actual desire behind it, and it should be possible. It has to be concrete in a way that perfect world scenarios just aren’t.

The past two years have been rough for most of us. There’s the pandemic, of course. Plus, completely dysfunctional governments in seemingly half the world’s countries. Poor economies. High unemployment. Supply chain mishaps. Inflation. Personally, I’ve been unemployed for a good chunk of the last two years. I’m working now, but nowhere near financially secure. It’s been tough.

One way Jamil and I have dealt with these hardships is to really focus on our writing, taking it seriously and seeing if we can make a go of it. I wrote about that decision here. We’ve been fairly successful in a lot of ways. Aside from our work here, Jamil has been a regular contributor to CT News Junkie | Because You Need It. Bad. and he published an article with Partnership for Strong Communities among other things. I have been a regular contributor at Grunt Talks MLB and Phlexible Philosophy. I’ve also been publishing some fiction at Simily.co. More is to come from both of us. Our work has been working.

So, my Christmas wish is that this work we’re putting in starts to pay off. Basically, that means we want to translate our success in getting our writing out there into building an audience. But we’ll need help for that to happen. Luck hasn’t worked so far and probably won’t. Literally every view any of our pieces get, on any of the platforms where they appear, helps. If you ever see something we’ve written and enjoy it, please share it or tell people about it. Beyond that, interactions help even more. That’s everything from liking to commenting. Anything you can do would be great. I might as well mention here that we’re also in the market for a wealthy benefactor. If you know anyone. . .

Hopefully everyone had an excellent Christmas (or just a great December 25th if you don’t celebrate Christmas). Let’s see if wishes come true.

  1. This is my first time coming across your blog site. The layout is dope; its kinda similar to mine. Blogging or writing is not easy. But if you love it, it becomes easier. I wish for your blog site to reach higher heights, deeper deepths and all your blog dreams and goals will become a reality.
